This video has been made to show Ace and KISS/Tommy Thayer fans the difference vs the two, many people has stated that Ace is washed out and can’t play anymore, Ace’s 2008 Rocket Ride tour proved otherwise, Ace is back, and he told you so!
Ace on being replaced in KISS by Tommy Thayer:
“Tommy’s a sweet guy; he used to be my road manager. Tommy used to be in a KISS tribute band — and he still is!
“Tommy is a friend; if someone is going to wear my costume and makeup, I guess I’d prefer that it be him. That’s not to say that I agree with it, because I don’t. But it is what it is.”
On whether he keeps in touch with all three of his ex-bandmates:
“I still get along with everybody. I was always the peace maker, even back in the ’70s. If guys in the band were fighting about something, I’d always try to get them to calm down and talk about it.”

You don’t show much about Tommy, it would be interesting to see something from Black ‘n Blue, the former band of him. It’s difficult to compare them without it. We know (think) that TT. asked to be a “copy” of Ace, so it would be better to see him in his own style. Anyway, I think arguing about who is better or which is the original band is boring. And it’s boring to blame Paul and Gene for Ace and Peter. Playing in the “Hottest band in the World” is great. They gave it up for alcohol and drugs.

@boonatron – Great comment! That is exactly what happened to me! The first time I saw KISS was during the Creatures tour in Dallas, TX and I didn’t know Ace had left the band. I was said, “what is going on with Ace, wait, that’s not him”. Then I saw the program and it was confirmed. Ironically, I went to school with Mark Slaughter and he ended up being in Vinnie’s band, but could not stand him and formed his own band back in the late 80s called Slaughter.

I saw KISS before …
I saw KISS before Thanksgiving here in Los Angeles. It was a terrific show. One of the best concerts I have ever seen. I love Ace and Peter, miss them, but wonder if just was not meant to be anymore. They had their great years together, but Ace seems happier to me now as a solo act. He is free to what he wants to do, which is “so Ace”. I think Peter has a very artistic side to him musically, which is better served outside of KISS. He seems like a studio musician, but that is just my opinion.

Maybe so, but Eric Carr was only in makeup for three years and Vinnie 1 so no wonder..plus when Creatures Of The Night came out, Ace was on the cover and they did a promo tour with him to not off their record company, they signed a multi-million dollar record contract that would’ve been voided if Ace left. When Vinnie became an official member, people attending shows on the Creatures tour didn’t even know Ace left and some thought he was wearing a new makeup design
